Frequently Asked Questions

Wait a minute — ain’t y’all married already?
It’s true: On March 20, 2020, our original intended date, the Rev. Dr. Craig B. Gaddy Sr. — also a cousin of Anthony’s — officially pronounced us husband and wife inside his office at Brooklyn’s Friendship Baptist Church. But we never gave up on our plans to celebrate with all of you. Hence, more than a year and a half later, we are hosting the wedding weekend of our dreams.

Yeah but, what about COVID?
Given the “why” we’ve delayed so long, it’s doubly important to us that our wedding weekend is as safe for all of our loved ones as possible. To that end we are asking all guests to be fully vaccinated before attending. If vaccination is not possible (and we understand it may not be), please plan to not attend in-person; we welcome you to celebrate with us virtually or in another capacity.

How and by when should I RSVP?
Save your postage by RSVPing on this page by August 31, 2021. Remember to confirm your attendance (or send your regrets) for the ceremony and the reception; to choose your main-course option; and to request shuttle-bus transportation, if needed (more on that below).

I’m planning to fly. What airport serves this area?
Savannah/Hilton Head International (SAV), which is about 20 minutes from downtown Savannah. NYC-area friends, good news: You can fly direct from JFK (Delta and Jet Blue), LGA (Delta), and EWR (United and Allegiant). We do recommend flying in on Friday evening at the latest, so you can attend all of Saturday’s festivities. (See more on our “Getting There” page.)

The ceremony is in South Carolina but the reception is in Georgia. How does that work?
Beaufort, South Carolina — Anthony’s charming hometown and the site of our afternoon wedding vows — is about 43 miles away from Savannah, Georgia, where we’ll dine and party into the night. The scenic drive between our two locations takes about an hour. For those who’d prefer not to drive it themselves, we are providing a charter bus offering transportation from Savannah to Beaufort and back. The bus will have limited seating, though, so make sure you put in your request for a ride along with your RSVP. (Stay tuned for more details on the charter bus, including pickup times.)

So you’re saying I should definitely stay in Savannah, then.
For your convenience, yes! We recommend booking at our host hotel and reception site, the Hyatt Regency Savannah (where we have a room block set aside). But the options downtown are plentiful, from chain and boutique hotels to AirBNBs. Please see all the suggested options on our “Where to Stay” page.

I’m coming from Jacksonville (hi, Dawnie’s family!). How do you recommend we handle our travel?
Driving/carpooling is your best option. You might like to arrive in Savannah Friday evening, or, because the Lowcountry is a relatively short distance away from Jacksonville, you might choose to drive up on Saturday morning instead. Just remember to give yourself enough time to get to the ceremony, if you plan to attend (Beaufort is a 3-hour drive from Jacksonville, and our ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.).

I want to drive myself. Can you give me directions between the ceremony and reception?
We could try — but your phone’s Google Maps or your car’s GPS system will do a much better job of it! Plug in the addresses for each location and the satellites will lead you on the best route.

Tabernacle Baptist Church: 901 Craven Street, Beaufort, SC 29902

Hyatt Regency Savannah: 2 West Bay Street, Savannah, GA 31401

What should I wear?
Semiformal attire, please, for both the wedding and reception.

That doesn’t help at all. What does “semiformal attire” mean?
It can be a suit or a cocktail dress or any other ensemble nicer than what you’d normally wear. Though you are certainly welcome to slay us in your tux or evening gown, neither is necessary.

Are children allowed?
Unfortunately, due to space and budget concerns, we are unable to accommodate children. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I’m vegetarian. What can I eat at the reception?
We will provide an option for your meal. Please indicate when RSVPing.

Do you have a hashtag I can use on social media?
Eh. We’re working on it. Got an idea? Send it to us at wedding[at]santagati.com.

Are you registered anywhere?
You are honoring us with your presence, and that is gift enough. But should you feel inclined, we would be so thankful for any contributions to our honeymoon fund. If you’d rather give us something for our home, to make it nicer for your next visit, we have also set up registries with Zola and Target.

We’re spending the whole weekend in the area. What should we do?
Come to our Sunday cookout, for starters! It’s totally optional, but Anthony’s family will be giving our guests a special, authentic taste of the Sea Islands (time and location details to come). For those interested in roaming around Savannah or the historic parts of the South Carolina Lowcountry, here’s a guide of stuff to check out.

I have a question I don’t see here.
Email us at wedding[at]santagati.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you!
